Introducing Cambridge Intelligence

At Cambridge Intelligence, we believe that visualizing connections in data will make the world safer.

We build the world’s best software development kits (SDKs) for connected data visualization:

  • KeyLines and ReGraph are for graph visualization – the visual analysis of connected data as networks of nodes and links

  • KronoGraph is for visual timeline analysis – a scalable way to explore large volumes of connected events over time

More than 250 customers in 28 countries rely on our products to build mission-critical projects and systems for security, cyber threat detection, fraud management and more.

Cambridge Intelligence was founded by Joe Parry, our CEO, back in 2011. Since then, we’ve grown to a team of 60 spread across four countries.

Most of us are based in our Cambridge UK HQ on Hills Road – just a few minutes from the railway station. We also have staff in Lowell (MA) in the US, Vancouver in Canada, and Singapore.

Our development teams

the Cambridge Intelligence team in a meeting

We have three development teams at Cambridge Intelligence – one for each product, plus a fourth dedicated to prototypes.

Each team has a manager, responsible for coordination, sprint planning, team well-being and professional development. Each team also has a product manager to steer the roadmap.

Alongside our product development teams, we have developers embedded in our commercial teams.

Customer-facing developers support our prospects through their evaluations, designing prototypes and proofs-of-concept that showcase our toolkits’ capabilities. Solutions engineers work with our customers, providing training and consulting to help them make the most of their licenses.

Interviewing with us

Our recruitment process varies by role, but we usually follow four steps to get to know you better.

  • telephone interview

    1. Phone interview

    • Duration: 30 minutes
    • With: our talent manager
    • To check: you’re right for the role
    • Preparation needed: review your CV, the job advert, and take a look at our website

This informal conversation will make sure we’re not wasting your time.

We’ll check if you have the right experience for the job and give you a chance to talk up your skills and achievements. We’ll also discuss your reasons for wanting to join the Cambridge Intelligence team.

  • coding task

    2. Coding task

    • Duration: as long as you need
    • With: yourself, in your own time
    • To check: your coding skills, and how you approach a challenge
    • Preparation needed: review our SDK documentation

If you enjoy writing elegant code, this is your time to shine!

We’ll ask you to create your own data visualization tool with our SDKs. It’s a great way to see what we do and understand our obsession with quality.

We know you have other commitments, so we don’t set a deadline for this task.

  • panel interview

    3. Panel interview

    • Duration: about 60-75 minutes
    • With: the team lead, two teammates and our talent manager
    • To check: the value you’ll add to our team
    • Preparation needed: read up on us and our products

This is a chance to meet some of your future teammates, and talk through your coding task.

We’ll ask about your experience and achievements, how you prefer to work, and what your professional development priorities might be. We’ll also assess cultural fit – to understand whether you’ll thrive in our team.

Preparation is key for this stage! We love it when candidates bring examples from recent projects and questions for us.

  • telephone interview

    4. Last chat

    • Duration: 30 minutes
    • With: Joe Parry, our CEO
    • To check: your motivations and aspirations
    • Preparation needed: none

This final step is an informal catch-up with our founder and CEO, Joe. He’ll be interested to hear about your motivations for joining Cambridge Intelligence, and what you’ll bring to the team.

It’s also a great chance to understand our business from a strategic perspective, and to see how your career will progress with us.

  • Don’t forget: it’s a two way process

Ask questions, share any concerns and let us know if we’re unclear. We won’t ask trick questions, or try to confuse you.

What happens next?

If you like what you’ve seen so far, we’d love to hear from you!
