Empowering people in crisis: Our support for the British Red Cross

As part of our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the world, we’ve made a donation of £20,000 to the British Red Cross. For the past 150 years, they’ve helped millions of people in crisis get the support they need.

Last year, we pledged to “pay it forward” with donations to local charities in Cambridge, where our business grew from a start-up to a successful software company. This year, we were keen to boost our impact by adding a humanitarian organization to our list of beneficiaries.

In 2023, people across the world have experienced devastating floods, conflict, displacement and food crises. Our donation will support the work of the British Red Cross, who is part of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. With teams in over 190 countries across the world, they can respond to emergencies as they happen, and help communities rebuild and recover in the aftermath by providing food, shelter and medical assistance.

Additionally, our donation will support the charity’s local services available to people in the UK. Through their Mobility Aids and Refugee services and UK emergency response programme, the British Red Cross provide practical, local and emotional support to those who need it.

Bryan Amesbury, our CEO, said: “We’re supporting the British Red Cross because we share their values of compassion, integrity, and a commitment to making the world a safer place. Our donation isn’t just an investment in humanitarian aid; it’s a pledge to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing adversity.”

Supporting local charities working to improve lives in Cambridge

Alongside our donation to the British Red Cross, we’ve continued to support local charities focused on improving the lives of people in Cambridgeshire.

We’re donating a total of £60,000 to:

Jimmy’s Cambridge – who provide support and housing to people who are rough sleeping in the city

Cambridge Foodbank – part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks, working to end hunger and poverty

Centre 33 – a local charity that provides counseling and support to young people and young carers

RedBalloon – an education charity helping to re-engage young people with education

Cambridge Women’s Aid – supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse

Being ‘responsibly ambitious’ is one of our core values. It means being great at what we do, but also doing what’s right. These donations have become an important part of our annual calendar, and we’re proud to work with charities who are helping to support people in crisis this Christmas.
